Personal Profile

Over the past decade, James B. Harrison has established himself as one of the most effective, knowledgeable, and compassionate attorneys serving students with disabilities and their families. He has successfully represented hundreds of special education families in due process cases across California. James also assists families with cases involving student injuries, abuse, or discrimination due to disabilities.

James understands the stress and uncertainty many families face when considering legal action against their child’s school. He is honored to help families advocate for their child’s right to a safe, individualized, and meaningful education. While James firmly defends his clients’ rights, his calm demeanor and collaborative negotiation style help maintain positive relationships between families and school districts.

James has taught education law at Golden Gate University School of Law and frequently speaks on special education law and litigation in continuing education programs for attorneys and educators. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Arts (M.A.), and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
